More bad luck for Gutshot.
After re naming itself The Powerhouse Sporting Club, Britain’s Gambling Commission has rejected a licence application for a poker club.
The Powerhouse Sporting Club Islington London representative James Anderson, argued that Powerhouse was a private members club which included chess, backgammon, scrabble and quiz nights with a restaurant bar and free internet access.
Jeremy Phillips for the Gambling Commission found that this was not a bona-fide members club, as Poker formed the main part of its trade.
The ruling means that Powerhouse can only operate low stakes poker games with a £250 limit on the total amount of money that can be gambled within the premises per day.

Research from Cornell University New York shows that its more expensive to replace skilled gaming staff than someone doing less demanding work. In the hospitality industry Cornell researchers found the cost of staff turnover was $5,000 per employee.

According to a press release issued by UltimateBet one of the ten largest online poker rooms, the site was alerted to suspicions of a player exhibiting abnormally high winnings statistics.
This scandal brings back memories of October 07 when Absolute Poker was mired in a cheating scandal that prompted The Kahnawake Gaming Commission to audit the site.
Both UltimateBet and Absolute Poker are owned by Tokwiro Enterprises.
UltimateBet have said that it is determined to complete a full and thorough investigation regarding allegations of suspicious activities.
