Poker Tip
Having attended the UKIPT Pokerstars event at the Isle of Capri on day one .
I helped out the dealers there with my friends Colin Roberts and Dave Doughty.
I noticed how many younger players were there.
The poker tournaments have changed dramatically in the last five years, and from a fitness to play point of view, I hope that Texas Holdem will eventually be recognised as a mind sport.
Playing for 10 to 12 hours over 3 to four days requires an amazing amount of physical fitness and stamina.
Playing against the clock as speed chess players also have to do, also changes the idea that poker is purely luck with very little skill.
The No smoking ban has also changed the image of poker from overweight cigar smoking players in a dingy cramped back room into 40 plus tables hi tech plasma screens and highly skilled poker dealers that have to move the game at a very fast pace.
